OpenAtlas editorial information

Who operates and edits OpenAtlas

OpenAtlas is an independent, English-language directory published under the name OpenAtlas Editorial Desk. It is operated through winfilling.com for an international audience. No project pays for inclusion, and a listing is not an endorsement.

How the directory is organized

GitHub Topics help people discover repositories, but GitHub does not publish one fixed set of official top-level categories. OpenAtlas uses broad editorial categories and focused topic collections to organize projects by the job a reader wants to do. These groupings are navigation aids, not an official GitHub taxonomy.

What each project brief contains

Each brief explains the job a project does, who it may suit, a reason to consider it, a trade-off to check, and a practical first test. Capability claims are paraphrased from the project's public repository or README. The page links to the original source and shows the date of the metadata snapshot.

Selection and review policy

Projects are selected for a clear purpose, an inspectable public repository, and enough source material to explain fit and trade-offs. Popularity alone does not determine inclusion. We review primary project sources when an entry is created or materially corrected; dated snapshots may become stale between reviews.

Corrections and conflicts

Factual corrections are checked against a primary source such as a repository, release note, license file, or official documentation. Project maintainers may identify an error or disclose a conflict through contact@winfilling.com. Substantiated errors are corrected and the page date is updated.

Our limits

These summaries are editorial research based on public project information. Unless a page says otherwise, they are not claims of full hands-on testing, security review, license clearance, or ongoing support. The original project remains authoritative for current releases, documentation, and licensing.

OpenAtlas is independent and is not affiliated with GitHub or the projects listed here. Project names, trademarks, source code, and documentation belong to their respective owners.
